You can turn to an orthopaedic specialist with disorders of the bones, tendons, joints and muscles of the limbs, as well as with changes in the vertebrae of the spine and the surrounding soft tissues.

Depending on age, orthopaedic examinations may focus on different problems: in infancy on hip development, in pre-school age on flat feet and scoliosis, and in adolescence mainly on poor posture and developmental disorders of the spine. In adulthood, degenerative changes caused by sedentary or standing work and problems caused by sports injuries are common, while in older age joint cartilage wear comes to the fore.

A sedentary lifestyle and prolonged standing or sitting at work can often cause musculoskeletal complaints even in young adulthood. Back and lower back pain are common, as is neck pain in office work and knee pain in jobs that involve standing. It is worth seeing a specialist as soon as symptoms and complaints appear.
