Ultrasound diagnostics is a painless diagnostic imaging procedure that uses sound waves, inaudible to the human ear, to examine the processes taking place in the body.

Prevention over 40

Over the age of 40, abdominal and gynaecological ultrasound examinations are recommended for prevention.

Please wear clothing that allows easy access to the area to be examined.

Examinations and preparation

Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound

An abdominal and pelvic ultrasound examines the liver, spleen, pancreas, gallbladder and abdominal aorta, as well as the uterus and ovaries, and in men the prostate.

Preparing for the examination:

a full bladder is required for the examination
do not eat for 6 hours before the examination, as it is performed on an empty stomach
do not drink carbonated beverages before the examination
still mineral water is the best choice

Neck ultrasound

A neck ultrasound examines the thyroid gland, the cervical lymph nodes and the salivary glands.

No preparation is needed for a neck ultrasound.

Breast ultrasound

A breast ultrasound includes a complete examination of the breasts, the armpits and the surrounding lymph nodes. The examination involves no radiation exposure and can also be performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
