PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a thrombocyte-rich (platelet-rich) plasma injection obtained from the own blood that we get by centrifugation after collecting the blood in a special, closed system. Retaining the closed system, we inject the thrombocyte fraction rich with growth factors back in the body part of the patient in which the symptoms occur.

The essence of the PRP treatment is that the growth factors which are released out of the thrombocytes increase the reproduction of the cartilage cells (chondrocytes), mitigate the chronic inflammations on the border of the tendon-periosteum and successfully improve the ligament and muscle injuries resulting from sporting activities. It is important to point out that the treatment is suitable for treating professional athletes, it does not violate the doping rules based on the statement of WADA.

Getting the injection is not pain-free, since the injection is given in an already hurtful and possibly inflamed position, which can lead to a feeling of tension. With the help of ice and pain inhibition, the pain subsides after 2-3 days.

After getting the injection, in the beginning it is important to avoid using the treated joint or body part and to avoid any bigger physical use for two weeks. After that, a physiotherapy is recommended, in which the joint or body part can be used more and more. The complete recovery can take up 4-8 weeks, depending on the individual.

The fields of application of the PRP treatment:

• cartilage wear of the joints, treatment of arthrosis in the knees, shoulders, hips and small joints;
• tendinitis;
• tennis elbow;
• golfer's elbow;
• chronic inflammation of the achilles tendon;
• chronic heel pain and inflammation of the connective tissue on the sole of the foot;
• frozen shoulder syndrome;
• sports injuries (tendon, muscle injuries)

• It is fast, it is not more time required than one hour. In this, the blood collection, the complete processing with 5 minutes centrifugation, the injection back in the body and the administration are included.
• It is effective, one treatment is sufficient.
• The risks of the treatment are minimal, there are no side effects. The reason for the relative risk-freeness: On the one hand, the treatment is performed with the own blood of the patient, on the other hand everything happens in a closed system, with a special, for single use only, sterile, medical-technical device that has been developed for this purpose.

Important! During one treatment, only one joint can be treated.
